Obit: Bernard Jerome Schellinger, 86, of Hartford

 

Oct. 24, 2017 – Hartford, WI – Bernard J. Schellinger, 86, of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Serenity Villa in Slinger, surrounded by his family after a long struggle with vascular dementia and heart failure.

Bernard was born to Art and Natalia (nee Schoebel) Schellinger on June 16, 1931. He was united in marriage to Charlene Lechner on October 4, 1952 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, gardening and his second home up north. He also worked various part time jobs.

Loving father of Peter (Monica) Schellinger, Stephen (Jacqueline) Schellinger, Donna (Gary) Voigt, Mary Schellinger, Anne Schellinger (David) Zuern, Jane (David) Fude, Paul (Kelly) Schellinger, Julie (Dennis) Regan; grandpa of Adam (Hillary) Schellinger, Amanda Schellinger ( special friend, Robert Land), Jared Schellinger, Joshua (Becky) Voigt, Matthew (Lindsey) Voigt, Maggie (Ross) Braun, Joseph (Megan) Schellinger, Benjamin (Jamie) Schellinger, Jessica (Brian) Keith, Kelsey (Ben) Stoffel , Jonathan Fude, Daniel Fude, Michael Regan, Mitchell Regan and Madalynn Regan; and great-grandfather of Lauren and Claire Schellinger, Porter, Lane and Ava Voigt, Johnny and Remington Voigt, Duke and Ella Braun, Ronni and Knox Schellinger, and Hayes Keith. He is further survived by other dear friends, Dick and Mary Ann Schellinger; among other loved relatives and friends.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Charlene (in 2014); infant son, Joseph Schellinger; his sons, Ronald and Ralph Schellinger; a granddaughter, Maria Voigt; and siblings, Victoria Theisen, Ralph Schellinger and Florian Schellinger.

He will always be remembered for his smile, work ethic and willingness to lend a hand.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, (4886 Hwy 175, St. Lawrence) with Fr. Davies Edassery officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery, St. Lawrence.
