Oct. 8, 2017 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Business Improvement District (BID) is trying to turn back time by adding roofline lights to downtown buildings.

Years ago the city had lights bordering downtown businesses; the lights lit up every night and added charm to the city.

Downtown property owners thought bringing back the lights would be a great idea. They spoke with Hartford’s BID and the Chamber of Commerce to start planning.

“This will be awesome and a wonderful year-round addition to our beautiful downtown,” said Scott Henke, Executive Director of Harford’s Chamber of Commerce.

The Business Improvement District is hoping to raise enough money to start the light installation next spring to get it running just in time for the holiday season.

The city would own the lights and Hartford business, ‘Tis the Season, would be contracted to install the lights, which will have a 10-year warranty; the company would also maintain the lights at no charge.

The white LED lights would be on year round and they could be programmed to have a holiday feel including red for Valentine’s Day and green for St. Patrick’s Day.

“Downtown is so cool and it really has a historic feel to it,” said BID member, Wendy Dulak. “The lights around the buildings will add to that charm and we are very excited about the project.”

Hartford’s BID is hoping to install 6,000 feet of lights at a cost of $25 a foot. The BID needs to raise $200,000 to start the project. To get an idea of what the lights will look like, there is a sample at the corner of HWY 60 and Grand Avenue at the Rotary Gazebo.

If you would like to sponsor a section of lights, visit the following businesses: Douglas Jewelers, Faith & Giggles, First National Bank, Grand Avenue Dental Care, Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce, The Local Collective, Lotus Be Will, Nail Essentials, Perc Place, Salon Effervescence, and Scoop DeVille. Anyone that donates $25 or more will receive a commemorative light-up pin.
