Oct. 1, 2017 – Jackson, WI – Kathleen M. “Kathy” Halwas, 65, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Ivy Manor in Jackson.
Kathy was born on May 24, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Mary Jane (Boynton) Walsh. On December 27, 1976, she was united in marriage to Charles Halwas for over 25 years.
She was a 1971 graduate of West Bend East High School and was the first graduating class in the new high school. Kathy was employed by the West Bend Company for 27 years and then went on to being a caretaker for REM Company. She loved to socialize and get out of the house and took every opportunity she could to go to a social event. Kathy lived for living life to the fullest and enjoying it. Her genuine sparkle was felt by those who knew her.
Those Kathy leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Heather (Lance) Cromb of West Bend, Jenny (Adam) Schweitzer of Allenton, and Danny “Dan” (Sarah) Halwas of Ripon; six grandchildren, Austin Cromb, Izzy Cromb, Emily Cromb, Brianna Halwas, Leland Schweitzer, and Leona Schweitzer; two brothers, Kevin Walsh and Bill Walsh; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Kathy will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017, at Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral Home, 1315 West Washington Street, in West Bend with Rev. Jerome Repenshek officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional funeral and burial of her remains will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Bend on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at 10 a.m.
Kathy’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
