August 21, 2017 – Fond du Lac, WI – Fond du Lac and Oconto Counties are the first in Wisconsin this year to have confirmed human cases of West Nile virus.
State Health officials say the chances of a person contracting West Nile virus are very low and most people affected by the virus will not have symptoms.
Those who do become ill may develop a fever, headache, and rash that lasts a few days.
Symptoms may begin between three to 15 days after being bitten by an infected mosquito.
