August 17, 2017 – Dodge Co., WI – On August 17 at 5:16 a.m. the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on US 151 north of Forest Rd, in the Township of Calamus, Dodge County.
Preliminary investigation shows that an unrelated 2 vehicle property damage only crash occurred in the northbound lanes of US 151 in which both vehicles came to rest in the median.
A 37 year old female (from Beaver Dam, WI) was operating a 2011 Ford Escape and stopped in the left lane of US 151 southbound to render aid. The female exited and walked onto the median shoulder of the highway.
A 28 year old male (from Beaver Dam, WI) was operating a 1999 Dodge Ram also southbound on US 151.
The Dodge Ram swerved to avoid striking the Ford Escape and struck the female who had become a pedestrian outside of the vehicle.
The female was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner.
The male driver of the Dodge Ram was uninjured in the crash.
Assisting at the scene was: Beaver Dam Fire Department, Beaver Dam Paramedics, and the Dodge County Emergency Response Team.
Identification of those involved in this crash is being withheld pending notification of the family and will not be available until at least 9:00 am on Friday, August 17, 2017.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
