Obit: Thomas P. “Tom” Maschmeier, 74, of Mechanicsburg, PA

July 8, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Thomas P. “Tom” Maschmeier, 74, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, found peace on April 3, 2017, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia after a battle with cancer.

Tom was born in New York City on February 4, 1943, the son of the late Rev. Ralph Maschmeier and Henrietta (nee Heidemann).  Tom graduated from West Bend High School in 1961.

Tom served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1981, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.  He then worked in the computer field in the Lynchburg, VA area. He was an American Legion member for 27 years with Post 109 in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Those Tom left behind to cherish his memory include his son, Thomas (Deborah) Deiley of South Portland, Maine; six grandchildren, Cameron and Kristen Deiley, Cassandra and Jessica Zufelt, Abrianna and Joseph Carrasco; six siblings, Ruth of West Bend, John (Nancy) of Thurmont MD, Martha (Raymond) Holtz of Mt. Prospect IL, Paul (Susan) of West Bend, Daniel (Barbie) of Marina CA, Ralph of Milwaukee WI, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, his daughter, Deborah Deiley Zufelt, preceded Tom in death.

He is remembered as being forever curious, caring and giving. A memorial gathering to honor Tom’s life will be held on July 15, 2017 at New Hope United Church of Christ church at 4360 Jackson Drive, Jackson, WI 53037 with Rev. Jim Hill officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a service to follow.  Interment will be on Friday, July 14th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at West Bend Cemetery at 3358 Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, the Cancer Research Institute, New York or New Hope Church are appreciated.
