Obit: Elisabeth Neitzel, 75

Elisabeth “Fiffi” S. Neitzel (nee Gonscherowski), 75, of West Bend, found peace and was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Kathy Hospice, West Bend.

She was born on December 11, 1940 to the late Gerhard and Elisabeth (nee Castagne) Gonscherowski in Konigsberg, East Prussia. She graduated from college in Germany. Elisabeth moved to the United States where she met Don Neitzel, professional drummer. On February 8, 1964 they were united in marriage in Hales Corners, WI. Elisabeth had many hobbies including reading, writing letters in long hand, music, the arts and crafts, swimming, ladies groups and book clubs. She wrote articles for Cedar Citizen each month. She also belonged to the Pilot Club and the Washington County peace seekers. She loved entertaining, traveling, concerts, museums, libraries, and singing in the Village Choir. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Those Elisabeth leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband and soul mate, Don Neitzel; daughter, Gail (John) Sumi; two granddaughters, Anna and Laura Sumi; sister-in-law, Ruth (Del) Beaver; niece, Holly Settle; many nieces and nephews in Germany; countless friends throughout the world.

She is preceded in death by her dear son, David Neitzel age 19; her parents; two sisters, Lilo and Gisela in Germany; along with many great friends.

A memorial service in remembrance of Elisabeth will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Theater, 5595 County Rd. Z, West Bend. Rev. Eric Kirkegaard presiding.

Elisabeth’s family will greet family and friends on Saturday at the Cedar Theater from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to Peace United Church of Christ, Kewaskum or to Cedar Community, West Bend in Elisabeth “Fiffi” Neitzel’s name is appreciated by the family.
