Changes ahead for Country Inn & Suites in West Bend

On Jan. 7, Washington County Insider was first to report the sale of Country Inn & Suites on Gateway Court in West Bend. Now we’re learning about some of the changes in store.

Over the next three years neighbors will see updated décor, styling, and amenities at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson.

West Bend Lodging Inc., the new ownership group,  said changes are necessary to make Generation Y and especially Millennials feel welcome.

Millennial travelers will control about 50 percent of business travel spending on flights by 2020, and then will hold the lead for another 10 or 15 years. Hotels catering to them must take specific steps, such as creating communal spaces equipped with quality Wi-Fi and a variety of seating options.

“Specifics and timelines are not scheduled yet,” said hotel general manager Guy Fox. “However you will see our new signage with the updated logo along with replacing the outdated tall post sign as well.”

Fox said, “Our new owners have made a commitment to Carlson to bring this location up-to-speed and we continue to have the flexibility to do what we do best…..take care of our guests.”

The new ownership group retained Fox, who has been with this property for over eight years, to continue his leadership role, along with Cathy Radmann, sales manager, and other existing staff members.

Country Inns & Suites By Carlson offers caring, consistent, comfortable hospitality with a touch of home and amenities that are particularly attractive to business travelers. The brand features the complimentary Be Our Guest hot breakfast that is served on classic dining ware and offers free high-speed Internet access and weekday newspaper. The distinctive product and service innovations, such as the Be Our Guest employee training program, have generated tremendous employee engagement scores and high guest satisfaction.
