Obit: Herman Wondra, 89

Herman John Wondra, 89, of Campbellsport passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday January 10, 2016 at his home. He was born in Campbellsport on June 29, 1926, the son of Herman and Mary (Theisen) Wondra. Herman served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 stationed in Japan. On Nov. 2, 1946, he married Geraldine Babler at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Herman farmed in the Town of Ashford, worked at the Gehl Company in West Bend for 25 years and drove school bus for a number of years. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, the Elks Lodge 57 in Fond du Lac for 27 years, the Knights of Columbus 664 in Fond du Lac, a life member of Campbellsport VFW Post 8339, the Fond du Lac American Legion, West Bend Dance Club and We Love to Dance Club specializing in ballroom dancing with his lifelong love of nearly 70 years.

Herman was also a former member of Gehl’s Employee’s Club and a patron of the Windover Center and the Fond du Lac Symphonic Orchestra. He was proud to drive his 1950 “Deere John” Tractor.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years Geraldine, his daughters: Carolyn (Jim) Mair of Salem, Oregon, Mary Beth (Doug) Seffern of Van Dyne, Kathy (fiancé Gary Nuernberg) Pauly of Kewaskum and Judy (Mike) Gilboy of Campbellsport. His grandchildren: Jennifer Mair, Jessica (Scott) Heuberger, Jacquelyn Mair, Michael (Stacy) Seffern, Kristin Seffern, Mark Seffern, David (Meghan) Pauly, Nathan (Jenna) Pauly, Becky (Tony) Gribben, Jeff (Heidi) Gilboy, Mindy (Josh) Tiner, Danny (Casey) Gilboy, Annah (Jared) Wenninger, Olivia (David) Helkenn, Caleb and Sophia Gilboy. His great grandchildren: Katelyn Dunn, Austen, Clayten, Haven Heuberger, Kaikane Osuna, Caden, Jacob Seffern, Breelyn, Ashlyn Pauly, Thomas, Dylan Pauly, Malaika, Abby, Laura, Aiden, Ivy, Karis Gilboy,Elesheva, Acacia, Micah, Noah Tiner, Sitora, Peter, Benjamin Gilboy, Eleanora Wenninger, and Vienna Helkenn. “Our Grandpa could fix anything!”

He is further survived by his brother Andrew (Mary) Wondra, his sisters Bernadette Hankes and Yvonne (Bud) Kuen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Olive Buerger, Marie Renzel, Odilia Krueger, Frances Buchta and Petronella Kaiser and his brothers Norbert, Carroll, James, David and Alfred Wondra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 15th at 6:00 PM at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St. Campbellsport.  Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will be Saturday in St. Matthews Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, January 15th from 3:00 PM until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
