A nice round of applause during Monday night’s West Bend School Board meeting as members of the High School Drumline received recognition for its first-place finish at the 2015 Fresh Coast Classic at UW-Milwaukee.
Band director Leah Duckert praised the drumline for its “amazing work ethic” and their commitment. “They have a goal, they work towards it and they achieve it,” she said.
Senior Troy Matenaer said the Milwaukee drumlines are extremely good. “To win just really blew us all away,” he said. “We looked really confident and all of our practice and our rolls were super clean and our bass drums were better than last year and that was really a big part.”
The West Bend High School Drumline took home a $1,000 check from the competition.
