WB Police on scene of school bus accident Friday morning

 

May 12, 2017 – West Bend, WI – On Friday, May 12, 2017 at 7:57 a.m. West Bend Police responded to an accident at the intersection of Schmidt Road and E. Washington Street involving a school bus transporting elementary school children to Fair Park School.

Through investigation officers learned the bus was southbound on Schmidt Road when it rear ended a passenger car stopped at the stop sign at E. Washington Street.  Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

There were 43 students on the bus. West Bend Fire Department Paramedics responded and checked the students for possible injuries. Fourteen students reported bumping into a seat or the side of the bus.

There were no visible injuries to any students and there were no complaints of injuries that required treatment.

The bus transported all the students to Fair Park School, where they were released to school staff.

West Bend Police Officers and school staff worked together to notify the parents of all of the students that were on the bus.

Police cited the 60-year-old male driver of the bus for inattentive driving.
