Celebration of life service today for Arthur George Dougherty, 101, of Pleasant Prairie,

May 6, 2017 – Pleasant Prairie, WI –  Arthur G. Dougherty, 101 years of age, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, after a long illness.

Arthur was born on June 24, 1915 in Oshkosh, WI, the son of the late William Noble Dougherty and Emma (Bloedow) Dougherty, and was the youngest of seven children. On September 19, 1936, he married Sylvia Frances Bleckinger in Oshkosh.

Arthur was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia, parents William and Emma and great grandchildren Joshua, Amanda and Grant.

He will be dearly missed by his son, Lee (Kaye) and three grandchildren, Kent (Mary) Dougherty, David A. (Lisa) Dougherty and Francine (Tom) Pompeo. Arthur was a dear great-grandfather “Bapa” to Mitchell (Amanda), Kyle (Angie), Seth (Heather), Connor and Anna; and great-great grandfather to Jessica, Lily, Ava, Cole, Blake, Cambria and many loving nieces and nephews.

Arthur enjoyed the outdoors which no doubt stemmed from his strong farming background. He quite frequently participated in horseback riding, golfing and bowling as well as watching various sports and game shows on TV. Arthur was always there to help friends and relatives with everything from baling hay, cutting lawns, blowing snow and walking their dogs to household projects or whatever else they needed him for.

The family especially thanks Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie for their loving care and support. Also thank you to Casey Family Options for all the Celebration of Life arrangements.

Arthur’s Celebration of Life services will be held at Journey Church (10070-75th Street Pleasant Prairie) on Saturday May 6, 2017. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00AM and the service, with Pastor Dan Remus presiding, will immediately follow at 11:00AM.

Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
