March 18, 2017 – Town of Jackson, WI – Thomas C. Lyskawa of the Town of Jackson, died on Monday, March 13, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 69 years. He was born on July 22, 1947 in Milwaukee to Chester and Clementine (nee Slabenski) Lyskawa. After graduating from high school, Tom served with the United States Air Force, after which he returned to MATC to finish his associate’s degree.
On August 19, 1967, he was united in marriage to Joan G. Carroll at St. Lawrence Church in Milwaukee. This year would have been their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
He worked for Logemann Brothers in Milwaukee. After more than 40 years of dedicated employment, he retired as a Field Service Manager in 2012.
Tom was a faithful Packers fan and Brewers supporter. Many trips were taken to Arizona where he enjoyed attending spring training games and visiting with family.
He loved all things technology related and was often found at his computer playing games, or researching a new interest. He loved to learn how things worked. When a problem arose, he would study it, and come up with a way to fix it that often resulted in a creative invention. Some of his hobbies included remote control cars and planes. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and the Sky Ranch Flyers R/C Flying Club. He was a master with puns and many people enjoyed his dry wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Joan; 3 daughters Lynn (Robert) Hodges of Tulsa, OK, Ellen (Jesse) Schmidt of Hartford and Lauren (Rev. Marc) Engelhardt of Vista, CA; 4 grandchildren Joan Hodges, Michael and Johanna Schmidt and Luella Engelhardt; his mother Clementine of West Bend; one brother David (Barbara) of Beaver Dam; 2 sisters-in-law Judy (Jack) Nash of Sun City, AZ and Loretta Carroll of Muskego; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Chester, one brother Daniel, his parents-in-law Boyd and Lo Ella Carroll and one brother-in-law Stephen Carroll.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 24 at 6:30 PM at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson. The family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00 PM until the time of the services.
