March 3, 2017 – West Bend, WI – Norene H. Lowers, formerly Norene Strobach, nee Krueger, 84, of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Serenity Villa.
She was born on August 16, 1932 to the late Frank and Marie (nee Sievert) Krueger in Westboro, WI. She graduated from Medford high school in 1950. Norene attended Normal School Teaching College in Medford and then taught in a one room school house. On May 23, 1953, she was united in marriage to Chester Strobach.
Together they raised five daughters. Chester passed away in 1971.
In 1991, she married Leo Lowers in Winter WI. She worked as a cook and dietitian at a nursing home in Madison and as a nurse’s aide at the Samaritan in West Bend.
Norene was a lay minister at First Presbyterian church in Winter, WI as well as at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend.
She was a member of the women’s group and choir at all the churches she has attended. Norene enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cribbage and doing puzzles. She liked watching sports, especially the Packers, Brewers, and the Badgers. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, singing in the choir, and going to her bible studies.
She loved sitting in the sun and watching nature. Norene loved music and going to concerts. She also loved her trip to Scotland and many trips to California to visit family. Norene especially enjoyed going to her grandchildren sporting events and school events. She was one who never complained and was always gracious in all she did in helping others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Those Norene leaves behind to cherish her memory include her five children, Janice (Joseph Sanchez) Strobach of Santa Barbara CA., Sherene Strobach of Santa Barbara CA., Lori (Harold) Nicol of Minneapolis MN., Cathy (Randy) Fehring of West Bend, and Karen Strobach of West Bend; a step-son, Dennis Lowers of Winter WI.; a step son-in-law, Doug Johnsrud of Oregon, WI; five grandchildren, Sandesh Nicol, Daniel Nicol, Talya (Robert Kruse) Nicol, Brian Fehring, and Gregory Fehring; a sister, Karen Krueger; two brothers, Leland Krueger and Gordon Krueger; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Kreuger and Maxine Krueger; a brother-in-law, Fred Strobach; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Strobach; her second husband, Leo Lowers; a step-daughter, Judy Johnsrud; two brothers, LeMoyne (Jean) Krueger and Leroy Krueger; a sister, Ruth Strobach; three brothers-in-law, Ed (Lib) Strobach, Armin (Belva) Strobach, and Bernard (Jeanette) Strobach; three sisters-in-law, Sue Kreuger, Dora (Bob) Pagel, and Grace (John) Rauman; and a nephew, Kurt Krueger.
A memorial service in remembrance of Norene will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 501 Walnut St., West Bend. Burial will be on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Medford Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials to the church are appreciated by the family.
