Obit: Donald ‘Doc’ Held, 78, Slinger

Donald “Doc” Raymond Held, of Slinger,  78, passed away  surrounded by family on January 2, 2016 at Serenity Villa.  Donald was born to Raymond and Clara (Nee Kramer) Held on January 16, 1937, in Ackerville, WI.  He married Phyllis (Nee Albrecht) on November 12, 1960, and they were married 55 years.

Doc played baseball, basketball and football at Slinger High School and was part of the graduating class of 1955.  He was a dedicated Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He worked most of his life making outboard motors and supporting his family. Doc loved to golf with his friends, play with his grandchildren and travel with his wife.

Donald is survived by his wife Phyllis, his children, Susan (Doug) Czyz, Thomas (Katrina) Held and Steven (Becky) Held; grandchildren, Jake, Abbey, Lydia, Cameron, Evelyn and Eleanor; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 pm on January 5, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (208 E. Washington St. Slinger, WI 53086) with Father Richard J. Stoffel presiding.  Visitation will be held at the church from 4-6:15 pm on January 5, 2016.  Interment will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
