Icy roads blamed for increase in accidents in neighboring Fond du Lac County. By Bob Nelson

Feb. 25, 2017 – Fond du Lac, WI – Icy roads caused a number of accidents in the area Friday afternoon and night.

In the City of Fond du Lac 10 vehicles were involved in one accident on the West Johnson Street Bridge. The West Johnson Street Railroad overpass, Johnson Street overpass over I-41 and Johnson Street at Springs Hill were shut down due to icy conditions at times.

Injury accidents were reported at Highway 151 at Highway 26 and Highway 23 at Hilltop Road.

The Fond du Lac Fire Department responded to a report of a tree being down on a vehicle at 174 West Follett Street Friday morning.

The tree caused electrical wires to come down. The Fond du Lac Police Department responded to nine accidents and 3 runoffs Friday.

 

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department responded to nearly 30 accidents and 35 runoffs Friday afternoon and night. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department also was busy handling 17 accidents, four involving injuries, and 5 runoffs Friday.

The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to 10 runoffs and accidents in Dodge County Friday morning.  The state Department of Transportation reports major highways in the area are snow-covered this morning.
