Jan. 26, 2017 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Union High School We the People teams under the direction of Social Studies Teacher, Pete Meinberg, who placed 3rd at the state competition this month.
“State Qualifiers for HUHS traveled to Madison on Saturday, January 21 and should be proud of their efforts,” said Meinberg. “HUHS consists of sophomore AP US Government students, freshly studying constitutional law this year, competing against juniors and seniors who have already taken high school American government or history classes.”
Students spent their day having small-group interactions with prominent historians, attorneys, prosecutors, congressional staff, and academicians. It is the type of experience they might not have again until they are deep into their collegiate life. “They were impressively poised in answering direct questions,” Meinberg said.
