The National Weather Service reported about 6-inches of snow across the Washington County area.  A full contingency of plows and salters worked overnight to clean up the roads in the city and outlying areas. There was some blowing and drifting as winds topped out around 40 miles an hour Monday during the height of the storm.  Neighbors in Dodge County saw extremely strong winds and some motorists complained about the lack of snow fencing in the fields to prevent drifts on the road.

Washington County Sheriff’s responded to numerous accidents and vehicles in the ditch.

Police in Germantown were on scene of three crashes, two with injuries and one involving three vehicles and three injured. There were also a number of vehicles in the ditch – all weather related according to Chief Peter Hoell.

The forecast from the National Weather Service today includes a chance of snow before 9 a.m., then patchy snow and freezing drizzle. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
