UPDATE: structure fire in Beechwood – Batavia FD is responding By Ron Naab

Jan. 8, 2017 – Beechwood, WI – UPDATE: Beechwood FD used an X-Tinguish FST successfully to stop an attic fire. Chief Mark Muench said the device stopped the first in its tracks in less than 30 seconds.

There is a structure fire in Beechwood at N571 Mapletree Road for a one story, two bedroom ranch. The call came in around 7 p.m.

This started as a chimney fire and spread to the attic.

Arrived with first engine to smoke showing from eaves and flames visible around chimney.

 

Opened scuttle hole to attic and deployed FST extinguisher. Fire out in 30 seconds.

Used about 300 gallons of water which includes water from 400 foot of 1 3/4 hose because of heavy beams which firefighters soaked down.

Mutual aid is working still, engines from Cascade, Silver Creek, Batavia, Tenders from Boltonville, Cascade, Silver Creek, Batavia Station back fill, Waldo tender, Adell engine

Batavia FD is responding with a tender.
