December 16, 2024 – West Bend, Wi – The West Bend School Board named Lenny Hanson as the new Assistant Superintendent in the West Bend School District.  Hanson, who has served as the district’s Director of Human Resources since 2019, will now oversee finance and operations.
In his expanded role, Hanson will manage the business office, budgeting, nutrition services, transportation, and human resources.
Before becoming the district’s Director of Human Resources, Hanson served as the principal of Jackson Elementary School for four years. His earlier experiences include working as the executive director of an independent preschool and as a teacher.
“Lenny’s understanding of public education and his leadership practices and skills are exceptional,” said Dr. Jen Wimmer, Superintendent of the West Bend School District. “The district is fortunate to have him leading such integral functions. His leadership will ensure that we continue to meet the high standards our students and families deserve.”
Hanson said, “I am honored to continue serving the West Bend School District in this expanded capacity.”
This leadership transition will follow the departure of Andrew Sarnow in January 2025. No word why Sarnow is stepping out.
The district did not include much of a writeup about Sarnow, 49, although his LinkedIn profile indicated he had been with WBSD almost six years.
According to the 2023-24 WBSD, Sarnow was paid a salary of $165,186 with benefits totaling $52,596.
As head of HR, Hanson was listed at a salary of $140,600 with benefits totaling $51,263.
Calls have been place to the school district for more information.
