Washington Co., WI – Veterans and volunteers were bundled up Saturday morning as family, friends, and neighbors gathered to place a wreath on a veterans grave in 18 Washington County, WI cemeteries. The Allenton American Legion Post 483 headed up the annual effort.
”Together, we had another very successful WAA event by honoring 864 veterans in our community and state,” said commander Mark Schellinger.

Allenton, Wi – A crew of hearty volunteers helped unload 864 veteran wreaths that were delivered Wednesday afternoon in St. Lawrence, Wi; the wreaths traveled all the way from Columbia Falls, Maine.
The Allenton American Legion invites everyone to join in Saturday, December 14 at 9 a.m. at one of the following cemetery ceremonies: Sacred Heart (Allenton), St. Mathias (Nabob), SS Peter & Paul (Nenno), St. Anthony, St. Lawrence, Zion (Hwy D), St. John (Beaver Dam Rd / WW), and St. Peter (Beaver Dam Road), St. Peter (old & new), Union, Diefenbach Corners, Faith, St. John, St. Paul, Cedar Creek, Rosenheimer and Faith (Ackerville).
If you purchased a veteran wreath to pick up for a veteran located outside the 18 cemeteries covered by Allenton American Legion Post 483, you can pick up on Saturday, December 14 between 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Allenton American Legion Post, 419 Railroad St, Allenton, Wisconsin.
Allenton Legion Post 486 will conduct the ceremonies, at all the cemeteries mentioned above, at the same time – 9 a.m.
We’ll never forget the brave veterans who serve and protect our country. Laying a wreath on the gravesite of our local veterans is one small act we can do to ensure our veterans are not forgotten.
