West Bend, WI – Every month A1 Health & Fitness in West Bend, WI selects a Motivator of the Month, someone who is helping inspire others to reach their fitness goals. Congrats to the December Motivator of the Month- BJ Sauer.
This is a little of BJs story:
I am absolutely shocked and honored to be chosen for this. I love just about anything outdoors and my three favorite food groups are protein, caffeine, and creatine.
I began lifting weights in high school for sports training, but with a lack of guidance it turned to a lot of benching and curling. My best friend in the Marine Corps taught me bodybuilding and we followed the routines we’d read about in magazines.
We had good results, but I have always had a lifelong struggle with food and nutrition.
Eventually as I got busier with life (working, raising kids, etc) and working out became less of a priority. I eventually got up to 250 pounds and was embarrassed to take my shirt off in public.
Then my wife started working on nutrition with Jen and I started following her example. I got down to around 200 pounds until an injury derailed me. I put some weight back on and was struggling to find the time and motivation to start exercising again.
When I heard about the first scholarship at A1 Fitness I decided to apply. Even though I didn’t win, I decided to do the partial scholarship, and it turned out to be the best decision.
I instantly fell in love with the workouts and the gym community. I can’t thank everyone enough for being so welcoming and supportive. And to all the coaches who have taught, guided and pushed me.
I was down to 183lbs and 11% body fat before starting my winter bulk in preparation to smash the 1000-pound mark at the next event.
My other goals are to just keep learning, improving form, trying to motivate others, and paying forward the kindness everyone showed me. I also want to thank my wife Lindsay for her support, encouragement, and motivation
Education is important, fitness is importanter. Thank you everyone.
