Kewaskum, WI — The congregation at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new church building on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
A capital campaign titled “Strengthening Our Foundation in Christ” was conducted from 2013 to 2016. Planning efforts intensified in August 2021 with the formation of the Church Building Coordinating Task Force.
A second campaign, “Forward: Growing in Christ,” launched in March 2023, enabled the finalization of the church plans. On October 20, 2024, the congregation officially voted to proceed with construction, marking the culmination of this long-awaited vision.
The new church building addresses several key needs, including accessibility improvements, expanded gathering spaces, and enhanced worship capabilities. Unlike the current building, which requires navigating multiple stairs to reach the sanctuary and restrooms, the new design will be fully accessible, offering a welcoming, step-free entryway.
The sanctuary will seat 230 worshippers and is carefully designed to support the music and congregational singing central to Lutheran worship. The addition of gathering and hospitality spaces will foster fellowship before and after services, a feature absent in the current facility.
This effort has been made possible by a collaboration of skilled professionals.
The congregation invites the community to join this joyful celebration as they embark on this exciting chapter in their history. The new St. Lucas Lutheran Church promises to be a beacon of faith, community, and worship for generations to come.
