Slinger, Wi – Daryl Allen Otte, 63, of Slinger, Wisconsin, found peace on Saturday, November 23, 2024, after a 9-month battle with cancer. He was born on June 5, 1961, to Dale and Wilma (nee Pieper) Otte.

Daryl worked as a handyman and carpenter since 2008 with previous experience as a carpenter and construction worker. He found so much fulfillment in his work that he continued to work as long as he could during his last months, even if it meant watching his brother David execute the tasks.

One of Daryl’s biggest passions was being part of the Slinger Fire Department. Even after retiring from the department in 2014, after 27 years of service, he continued to dedicate time to help in any way he could.

Daryl took a lot of pride in his work and putting others before himself. You could always find him in a group of people observing and lending an ear. He may have been a man of few words, but those few words packed a big punch. Daryl’s favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with friends and family. He was a well-known and respected member of the Slinger community, even the dogs knew him, as he always carried treats around for them.

Daryl is survived by his two daughters Kathryn (Andrew) Velic and Kayla Otte; his grandsons Archer and Baby (Due March 2, 2025) Velic; siblings Dean Otte, Drew (Mary Pat) Otte, David Otte, Dawn (Tom) Luken, and Dori (Pete) McCourt; mother of his daughters Lisa Becker; and ex sister-in-law Deb Otte. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Daryl is preceded in death by his parents Dale and Wilma Otte; sister-in-law Diane Tolfa; and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church (799 St. Paul Drive, Slinger, WI 53086) with Pastor Benjamin Goldish presiding. Visitation will be at church on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 3 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. A private family interment will be held at Union Cemetery at a later date.
