In summer 2023, Miller met with Courtney Cox-Poulsen from Lac Lawrann Nature Conservancy to ask about items on her wish list. A few options were reviewed and Miller set to work on three projects:

– Dry wood storage shed
– 3 portable fire pits made of discarded washing machines containing stainless-steel spin baskets
– 3 tic-tac-toe boards made with wide-diameter tree slabs

In March 2024, Miller started searching for stainless-steel spin baskets, wood slabs and collecting all materials.

“I learned there are many aspects of completing a successful project,” said Miler. “This project took responsibility, organization, leadership and its outcome is a true reflection of who I am. My biggest obstacles were finding stainless-steel spin baskets for the portable fire pits and the amount of time it took to complete the paperwork for the project.”

By May he met with the American Legion to present and request donations to support the projects and received a $500 donation as Bliffert Lumber donated all the lumber. Miller also collected a $50 gift card from Home Depot.

June 10, 2024 Troop No. 780 along with many leaders and parents helped assemble all three parts of the project construction on site at the conservancy.

By July 17, 2024, all three projects were completed, Cox-Poulsen was notified October 31, 2024 and a meeting was held to discuss and present the completed projects to Lac Lawrann Nature Conservancy.

Miller said earning the rank of Eagle Scout is his most significant accomplishment.

“From planning service projects to managing troop meetings, I developed organizational skills, grew into a leader, delegated, managed resources, coordinated volunteers, completed major tasks prior to deadlines producing a product that will make a positive impact on my community,” he said.
