October 11, 2024 – Slinger, Wi – It was August 26, 2024, when Slinger School District superintendent Jim Curler announced he would be retiring at the end of the 2024-25 school year. Now comes word of his replacement. A notification below was submitted by Curler.
On behalf of the school board, I want to announce that Mrs. Kristi Brooks has been offered and has accepted the role as the next Superintendent of the Slinger School District starting July 1, 2025.
Mrs. Brooks has a wealth of experience in her 25 years in education, most notable the last three as Assistant Superintendent of the Slinger School District.
Please congratulate her on this well-deserved promotion.
We will be posting her current position early next week with the hopes of having that filled by the winter break.
Jim Curler
Superintendent
School District of Slinger
The announcement of Brooks is of little surprise as Curler recommended her in his resignation letter.
On a history note: Curler was promoted to superintendent in 2021. Curler had been the assistant superintendent, and he would be taking over for outgoing superintendent Daren Sievers. It was November 3, 2021 when Sievers announced he was stepping out for health reasons.
After Curler was promoted the school board quickly filled his seat in January 2022 with Kristi Brooks as the new Assistant Superintendent.
Brooks beat out 32 other candidates who applied. She was hired in 2022 at an annual salary of $136,000 plus benefits.
