October 7, 2024 – Town of Trenton, WI – As summer fades and fall begins, I’d like to update you on the activities that have taken place since my last message this past spring.
ROADS
This summer, we worked on 12 roads, prioritizing quality and long-term durability. The roads chosen were based on our 2023 “Roads Tour,” a thorough assessment of every
road and street in town, conducted by the Town Board and our DPW team.
The work planned for 2025 will follow the results of our 2024 “Roads Tour.” I intend to share with you a 3–5-year outlook on our roads plan, including a list of roads most in need of repair along with estimated costs.

NOVEMBER ELECTION
With a large turnout expected, we’ve scheduled additional in-person absentee voting hours, including some on Saturdays. On Election Day, a heated tent will be available to
keep you comfortable in case of long lines or bad weather. To avoid waiting, early voting is always an option.
ZONING
The Planning Commission is currently drafting updates to our agricultural zoning. The existing AG zoning, known as “EA,” dates back to 1978. Any new restrictions will apply only to future farming operations, ensuring that current farmers are not affected. These
updates will help Trenton preserve its rural, residential character.
FIRE AND EMS SERVICES
A cornerstone of our community is the fire and emergency services that keep us safe.
I’ve had several meetings with our Newburg Fire and EMS teams to discuss the future of these services. To maintain and improve response times, staffing, and equipment, Trenton will see an increase in our annual Fire & EMS budget.
A 10% increase amounts to $25,000 in 2025, and our agreement will now be renegotiated annually. As seen in neighboring communities like Saukville, Grafton, Mequon, and Cedarburg, the costs of attracting and retaining personnel are rising. We may need to address this through a referendum in the town of Trenton in the future. Look for more information on this important topic in an upcoming Town Crier supplement.
I will keep working to ensure our town runs efficiently, managing costs wisely while
preserving the unique character of our community. I ask for your support in
