September 26, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Thursday, September 26, 2024 at approximately 1:01 am, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call of a one vehicle crash on CTH I near Marsh Road, located in the Township of Eldorado.

It was reported the vehicle was on fire in the corn field. Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Eldorado Fire and First Responders, North Fond du Lac Fire and Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, and ThedaStar Helicopter were dispatched to the scene.

Upon Deputies arrival the vehicle was fully engulfed and the driver was located in the cornfield near the vehicle.

Through investigation it was determined the passenger car was traveling south on CTH I north of Marsh Road when it left the roadway after a curve, striking a power pole. This caused the car to rollover in to the corn field.

The operator and lone occupant, a 35-year-old Oakfield man, was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

He was flown from the scene by ThedaStar to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah with serious injuries.

Speed and operating while intoxicated is believed to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
