September 25, 2024 – West Bend, Wi – There’s some significant construction at the intersection of Decorah Road and Main Street in West Bend, Wi. New curbing, crosswalks, and a new island on Decorah Road east of Main Street that will definitely have an impact on how traffic enters/exits Decorah Shopping Center. What are your thoughts on the new traffic pattern?
Previously there were two lanes in each direction on Decorah Road east and west of Main Street. Now, with the new design, an island has reduced eastbound traffic to just one lane east of Main.

The island also prevents westbound traffic from turning south into Decorah Shopping Center.
If you’re exiting the shopping center to the north, it will be right turn only. No longer will motorists be allowed to cross to the westbound lane and then cross Main Street.

I think they should close that driveway entirely. It’s going to make eastbound traffic a nightmare during busy times.
It is a good thing overall. The worst is people leaving the shopping center turning west and sitting across the left turn lane waiting to continue west and preventing drivers to turn south during the left arrow.
Agree that entrance/exit could have been eliminated, Main St and Lincoln Dr are there.
Think about how we drive around for instance at Home Depot or Kohl’s etc.
