Lost hunter rescued from swamp in Fond du Lac Co. | By Sgt. Brandon Henning

September 15, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 8:16 p.m. the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call from a male subject who was lost in the Mullet Creek State Wildlife Area near W808 Deerview Road, Town of Forest.

The male said he was deer hunting and became stuck in the swamp waist deep. The male said his phone had a very low battery, but the Communications Center was able to obtain GPS coordinates to aid responding Deputies.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with the Mount Calvary Fire Department and Ambulance responded to the area. Deputies on foot were able to walk towards the male’s last known location.


A Deputy was able to hear the
male yelling. Deputies and Fire personnel located the male, and were able to safely remove him from the swamp.

The 44-year-old Sheboygan male was evaluated by Mount Calvary Ambulance, and released from the scene with no reported injuries.

 

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mount Calvary Fire Department and Ambulance.
