Margaret is survived by her daughter Mary (Richard) Mekelburg of Theresa, WI; her grandchildren Paul (Ashley) Mekelburg of Waukesha, WI, Margaret/Peggy (Jason) Pulvermacher of Sauk, WI, and Joseph Mekelburg of Waukesha, WI. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Andrew, Olivia, Judah, Quinn and LP2; many nieces, nephews, current and former neighbors.  She is preceded in death by her husband Harry L. Thomas; siblings Anna Cudnohoski of Coleman, WI, Michael Eichinger of Germantown, WI, Joseph Eichinger of Richfield, WI and Madeline Mayer of Milwaukee, WI.

The youngest child, Margaret was born on August 11, 1918 in Chilton, WI, to parents Joseph Eichinger and Anne-Marie Neitzer Eichinger. Margaret and her sister Madeline grew up in Richfield, WI. During WW2, Margaret worked as a timekeeper at Allis Chalmers, where she met and then married Harry Thomas. Margaret and Harry moved to New Berlin in 1959 where they lived for the next 40 years.

Throughout her life, in between working, and then during retirement, Margaret sewed extensively for family and friends, tended a prolific vegetable garden, and expressed her love for others with home-baked goodies. Together with her husband, Harry, they came along side family members and friends with home-cooked meals, rides to shopping and/or appointments and many thoughtful gestures and care. Following Harry’s death, Margaret moved to Theresa, where she has resided for the last 7 years.

Margaret was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and neighbor.  She will be fondly remembered for her kindness to others, love of vegetable and flower gardening, sewing for family and friends, great cooking and baking – especially cheesecakes and sweet potatoes.

At her request, Margaret will be cremated.  A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at River View Hills Community Room in the grey barn at 100 Kelly Dr., Theresa, WI  53091.   Click for map:    http://mapq.st/1Qw5E9C  Lunch will be served at noon with a Memorial Service at 1:30PM.  Pastor Doug Schoen will officiate.
