September 5, 2025 – Saukville, WI – Melvin Lowitz of Saukville, WI passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital of West Bend.

Melvin

Melvin was born on April 11, 1931, in Port Washington, Wisconsin to Elvin and Elsie Lowitz.  He was the youngest of three siblings.  He attended Saukville Elementary and Middle School, which is now the Oscar Grady Public Library.

Melvin grew up in Saukville, doing what he loved, working on the farm.  He left the farm briefly when called to duty to serve in the US Army and Army Reserves.  After returning from service, he continued his passion for farming until he retired at age 85.

Along the way, he met the love of his life Mildred Stadler, and they were married on May 4, 1963.  She was his companion for 55 years until her passing on December 30, 2018.  They resided together at their family farm in the town of Saukville, raising three children in the process.

For many Melvin will be remembered as a friend, a father, a neighbor, and to others as the caretaker of the Town of Saukville landfill.  His classic sayings and legendary weather predictions will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his three children, Melvin Lowitz jr., Kim Kraus, and Marty Lowitz (Barbara), and grandchildren Daniel (fiancée Marie), Jaime, Nicholas, and Matthias.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Mildred (Stadler), Father Elvin Lowitz and Mother Elsie Lowitz, his sisters Bernice Lowitz and Lorraine Schubert.

Internment ceremonies for both Melvin and Mildred will be held at Union Cemetery in Saukville, WI on Saturday Sept. 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.

Myrhum – Patten Funeral & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Melvin’s arrangements. Additional information and tribute wall can be found at www.myhrum-patten.com.
