1 man seriously injured in motorcycle vs. deer crash in Fond du Lac | By Sgt. Brett Handschke

June 16, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI  – On Sunday, June 16, 2024 at approximately 2:04 a.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received multiple 911 calls of a single motorcycle crash on I-41 Southbound near CTH OO, located in the Township of Fond du Lac. Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with North Fond du Lac Fire Department and Van DyneFire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Through investigation, it was determined that the operator of the motorcycle struck a deer and the operator lost control of the motorcycle.

The operator, a 56-year-old South Byron man, was flown from the scene by ThedaStar to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center Neenah, with serious injuries.

The operator, was not wearing a helmet. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash. No citations were issued to the driver.

I-41 was shut down for approximately two hours for emergency vehicles and for ThedaStar Helicopter to land.

Assisting agencies included, North Fond du Lac Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Van Dyne Fire Department and North Fond du Lac Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
