Is it ‘under duck’ or ‘under dog’ on the swing

Peshtigo, WI – It was 2018 when my niece Audrey and I pedaled to Whitefish Point, Michigan and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. On the way there we passed through Peshtigo and toured the famous Peshtigo Fire Museum. While waiting for it to open w stopped at Badger Park and rather than swim Audrey, 15, gravitated to the swing.

“Push me,” she said. “Give me an under dog.”

I said it’s “under duck.”

Definition: When you push someone on a swing from behind and then push so hard you run under the swing at the end of the push.

  1. i’ve always heard it as under duck which makes sense as you duck under the swing…i assume someone mis-heard it one day as under dog and that’s how that stuck
