Pray for your local farmers hit by rough storms | By Gus Witte

West Bend, WI – Witte’s Vegetable Market, LLC, 2313 Hwy NN, West Bend, WI, is open for the season. Owner Gus Witte talks about getting caught in today’s storms and how the weather may adversely affect local farms.
This afternoon was every farmer’s worst fear. Thunderstorms rolled through with huge hail cells embedded inside. The boys and I had to head up to Plymouth this afternoon to pick up some seed and fertilizer. On the way back we got caught on Hwy. 57 inside one of those cells. It completely covered the road and clanked violently against our car.

Like most drivers, my first concern was for our safety and getting off the road. However, it then quickly turned to the farmers of that area.

Unfortunately, hail doesn’t care about how hard you work or how great your crop looks; it just destroys.

My heart and prayers go out to anyone who had the unfortunate fate of being caught under one of those cells today. I would ask you to keep your local farmers in your prayers tonight.
