May 29, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co, WI – Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney announced today Elia Antonio has been charged with Trafficking of a Child, Failure to Protect a Child, and bail jumping. Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia has been charged with First Degree Sexual Assault, Child Enticement, Strangulation/Suffocation, and False Imprisonment. The charges stem from May 18, 2024, allegations. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
Both defendants made their initial court appearance today and Judge Douglas Edelstein set cash bond at $1 million for each defendant. The investigation reflects the defendants are illegally in the United States and ICE detainers have been placed on the defendants. Both defendants are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 7, 2024, at 2 p.m.

The investigation is being led by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed at a later date.
