Joseph Pichler, 2024 United Way campaign co-chair, said, “We aim to rally the community in support of those in need in Washington County. By championing local causes, extending a helping hand to those in need, and funding essential nonprofit programs, we believe we can make a meaningful impact.”

Amanda Novotny said, “The funds raised and allocated to local nonprofits annually are a lifeline for many. With pressing issues such as addiction, hunger, and mental health, collective action is imperative. We all have a role to play, and we hope to inspire others to join us in making a difference.”

This year’s collaborative team is determined to build upon United Way’s previous campaign successes to assist even more individuals and families in Washington County. As campaign co-chairs, they are committed to raising awareness about the significance of community programs and encouraging new donors to contribute.

The United Way is focused on rebuilding its donor base, which waned following the peak prior to the pandemic.

In the previous year, the United Way of Washington County raised over $1.9 million and directed investments towards 21 local nonprofit partners to aid residents in need. Notably, nearly $300,000 was allocated for mental health counseling services for youth in Washington County.

“We are thrilled to see these Emerging Leader alumni take charge of our upcoming campaign,” said Kristin Brandner, CEO of United Way of Washington County. “Each of them has demonstrated a strong commitment to service through their involvement with Emerging Leaders. They bring a fresh perspective, energy, and dedication to serving our community. Witnessing the next generation of leaders advocate for our community is truly inspiring.”

The United Way of Washington County Emerging Leaders program was founded in 2017 as a way for members to give back while furthering personal development. They are a team of professionals who actively invest their time, talent and resources to improve our community. The group’s mission is to ignite and inspire one another by providing opportunities to lead, serve and grow. The inaugural Emerging Leader members are now alumni and campaign co-chairs will apply their skills and passion in their new premier volunteer role.

The 2024 United Way campaign kicks off this fall. Community volunteers will play a pivotal role in raising and distributing funds to support local programs that measurably improve residents’ education, financial stability, and health.
