Obituary | Eugene W. Belunes, 97, of West Bend, WI

West Bend, Wi – Eugene W. Belunes, 97, of West Bend died peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Cornerstone Assisted Living facility in West Bend. He was born September 5, 1926, on the family farm in the Town of Trenton.

On May 28, 1949, he was united in marriage to Sylvia M. Bales at Holy Angels Church in West Bend. Sylvia preceded him in death on May 25, 2011.

 

Eugene spent his youth on the family farm in the Town of Trenton. As a young man he started working at the West Bend Company, retiring after 45 years of employment. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and tinkering on anything that needed fixing.

 

In retirement he and Sylvia enjoyed spending time up north in Rhinelander and also travelling around the United States.

 

Eugene is survived by his 4 children: Terry (Michele) Belunes of Bend, OR, Gary Belunes of St. Germain, WI, Sharon (John) Scharrer of West Bend and Tom (Lisa) Belunes of West Bend and 9 grandchildren: Michael (Marcy) Marshall, Brian (Kristin) Marshall, Mandy (Scott) Sadonikow, T.J. (Jessica) Belunes, Becky (Josh) Voigt, Katie (Preston Boyd) Borchert, Kristin (Nate) Wiech, Bradley Dorsey and Gavin Dorsey. He is further survived by 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Belunes, his daughter-in-law Sherry Belunes, his granddaughter Corissa Belunes, his siblings: Verna (John) Hardegan, Elva (Ed) Windquist, Joseph (Mae) Marmanta, Pete (Jean) Marmanta, Alvina (Glen) Dailey, Raymond Belunes, Josephine (Alvin) Roell and Vincent Belunes and Sylvia’s siblings: Raymond (Loretta) Bales, Alex (Marie) Bales, Sylvester (Alice) Bales, Dolores (Robert) Hoeft, Rosalie (Walter) Hoeft and Franklin (Margie) Bales.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 12 noon at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. The family will greet visitors at the church from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Memorials to the Holy Angels School Trust Fund are appreciated.

 

Eugene’s family would like to thank all his wonderful caregivers at the Cornerstone for the past five months. Also, for the great care from Preceptor hospice team.
