1 injured in head-on motorcycle vs. van crash in Fond du Lac Co., WI | By Sgt. Matthew Riemenschneider

May 18, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., Wi – On Friday, May 17, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received several 911 calls of a van vs. motorcycle head-on crash at the intersection of State Highway 23 and Rose Eld Road in the Town of Eldorado.

Initial reports advised a motorcycle was hit head-on by the van and that the female passenger of the motorcycle was conscious however had a head injury. Fond du Lac County Deputies, Village of Rosendale Officer’s as well as Eldorado Fire Department, Eldorado First Responders and North Fond du Lac EMS all responded to the scene.

The investigation showed the van operated by 45-year-old Fond du Lac woman had been traveling south on Rose Eld Road. The woman pulled out from the intersection making a left turn for Highway 23 eastbound failing to yield the right of way for a westbound motorcycle operated by 51-year-old Green Lake man.

The van collided head-on with the motorcycle. The passenger of the motorcycle, 50-year-old Ripon woman was thrown from the motorcycle onto the south shoulder of Highway 23.

Due to the serious nature of the crash, Flight for Life was requested to the scene. The woman was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah with significant injuries. Neither the driver nor passenger of the motorcycle had been wearing helmets.

The motorcycle operator suffered minor injuries. The driver of the van and her passenger did not report any injuries.

Drivers from both vehicles were issued traffic citations. The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
