Dan Knodl announces run for 24th Assembly seat

February 29, 2024 – Germantown, WI – Senator Dan Knodl (R-Germantown) announced plans today to run for the State Assembly this fall in the 24th Assembly District.

Knodl won a recent special election in the State Senate and is now paired with Senator Duey Stroebel after new redistricting maps were signed in to law last week.

“It has been my honor to serve in the State Senate, but this decision makes sense given the new district boundaries. The 24th Assembly District is my home. I can continue to represent my hometowns of Menomonee Falls and Germantown without having to engage in a costly primary with Senator Stroebel, who is a very respected, conservative member of the Senate,” said Knodl.

Knodl, who was first elected to the Assembly in 2008, said he is proud of his record and accomplishments, but feels there is still much to be done.

“I am most proud of the work I did in the past few sessions to completely eliminate the personal property tax. That has been a project of mine for years and I worked diligently each session until it was gone,” said Knodl.

Knodl also cited the $22 billion in taxes cut since he took office, as well as his recent legislation surrounding election integrity efforts and his votes to curtail DEI on our college campuses so merit, not skin color, determines success in our public university system, as things he is most proud of during his legislative career.

In the Senate, Knodl served as the chairman of the Shared Revenue, Elections, and Consumer Protection Committee and has championed many conservative election reforms.

He championed the Zuckerbucks bill to make sure nonprofits like Facebook can’t monetarily influence our elections, as well as a bill that makes sure only citizens are allowed to vote.

“When I think about what we need going forward as a state, it’s continuity and stability,” said Knodl, “We need to look forward, not backward. And the constituents of this district need a conservative they can trust with a record of actually getting the job done, not just talking about it; a conservative who is respected by his colleagues. I have those qualities and look forward to sharing my vision with the voters of this district.”

Senator Knodl has been an entrepreneur his whole life, starting his first business at 17.

Until recently, Dan owned and operated the Reef Point Resort in Hartford for over 30 years. He has four children and six grandchildren.

The 24th Assembly District includes the communities of Germantown, Menomonee Falls, Lannon, and Butler. The primary election will be held on August 13 and the general on November 5.
