Nov. 1, 2016 – Sunday morning, Oct. 31 at 12:22 a.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was northbound on County Trunk WW south of County Trunk D when he observed a female subject standing near the fog line adjacent to his lane of traffic.
As the deputy approached, she quickly jutted out into the traffic lane, nearly being struck by the squad car. The deputy slammed on his brakes and activated the emergency lights.
As the deputy exited the squad car he heard her talking on a cell phone and make the comment, “The one car I try to walk in front of happens to be a cop.” She then asked why the deputy slowed down.
The roadway was briefly shut down as the deputy negotiated with the Town of West Bend woman.
Eventually she was taken into protective custody and transported to a mental health facility in an effort to provide her with help.
