Obit: Orville Schmidt, 92, of Campbellsport

Orville R. Schmidt, 92, of Campbellsport went home to his Lord on Friday October 28, 2016 at ManorCare in Fond du Lac. He was born in Newburg on June 16, 1924, the son of Erwin and Minnie (nee Utech) Schmidt. On June 17, 1944, Orville married Geraldine A. Frey at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newburg. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1945 stationed in the Western Pacific. Orville worked at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee and then at Tecumseh Power Products in Grafton for 30 years.  Orville and Geraldine also operated a farm in the Newburg area. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee, Campbellsport VFW Post #8339, Empire Threshing Association and Kewaskum Historical Society.

Orville is survived by his daughter Cynthia Barry, his daughter-in-law Violet Schmidt, his grandchildren Laurel Nonhoff, Kristine Wolf, Stephen (Sarah) Barry and Michael (Brandy) Barry, his great grandchildren Josh, Julie, Alex, Bryanah, Ashley and MacKinley, his sister Louella Schultz, his brother-in-law Gary (Marilyn) Frey, his sisters-in-law Betty Jane Fichtner, Shirley Cool and Lillian Simko, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine on March 19, 2015, his son Jacob, his brother Palmer Schmidt, his sisters Viona Kiether and Audrey (John) Schlelien, his brothers-in-law George, Grant, Curt and Roger and his sisters-in-law Mildred, Alberta and Priscilla.

 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee (W494 E. Elm Street Campbellsport, WI 53010) with visitation at the church from 11:00 AM until time of service. Rev. Robert Oberg will officiate and burial will be in Auburn Cemetery.
