December 27, 2023 – Washington Co., WI – Washington County Sheriff’s investigators remain on the scene of a fatal semi versus pedestrian accident that occurred on Interstate 41 at Sherman Road in the Town of Polk at around 7:45 am this morning. Northbound I41 remains closed at this time at is expected to be closed until at least 1 pm.
The male victim was struck in the middle of the traffic lanes of the interstate. The semi-truck driver was uninjured remained on scene and has been fully cooperative with investigators.
Deputies and officers with the Slinger Police Department were dispatched to the area just before the accident for a possible distressed individual on the Sherman Road overpass. No additional information on the events surrounding this will be released at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office. We were also assisted on the scene by the Slinger Fire Department, Washington County Highway Shop, and Lifestar Ambulance.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has issued a statement at 7:59 a.m. regarding an incident at I41 and Highway 60 in Washington County, WI.
According to the DOT Interstate 41 at Highway 60 in Jackson, WI has been closed. The initial message read: Left lane is closed at Sherman Rd on SB I-41 in Washington County due to Law Enforcement Activity
