Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say they’ve fielded several calls this week from people who said they were with the IRS and were demanding payment.
It’s a scam. Lieutenant Cameron McGee said if the IRS was going to contact you for back taxes or another issue they would notify you by mail.
He said they don’t call you on the phone; they notify you by letter on official stationary.
McGee said if you get this type of call hang up and if you have questions call the Sheriff’s Department. Waupun Police have been taking similar complaints about an IRS scam.
