Hartford Rotary Students of the Month | By Ron Schlitt

December 7, 2023 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce that Orelle Salentine and Jordan Yu were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month. The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meeting.

Orelle Salentine is the daughter of Carrie Klotzbach and Tony Salentine. Salentine is a member of the Girls Tennis Team, the National Honor Society, the Math Club, H-Club, and the Best Buddies program at HUHS. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Math Club and Secretary of the Best Buddies program. Salentine was the recipient of the National Honor
Society’s Key Award during her junior year.


Salentine has done volunteer work with community projects for Seniors during the holidays providing support and warm meals to senior citizens with limited resources. Through H-Club, she has volunteered her time at various local events such as the Pink Pumpkin Run, the Erin Fun Run, the Lincoln School Fun Fair, and supply and toy drives for Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation Clinic in Oconomowoc. Through the Best Buddies program, Salentine has spent a great deal of time working with students with intellectual disabilities.

Salentine plans to attend a four-year university on a pre–PharmD tract majoring in either biology or pharmaceutical science. After completing the prerequisites, she plans to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a career in pharmacy.


Jordan Yu is the daughter of Michelle and Leon Yu. Yu is a member of the Varsity Gymnastics team and the Varsity Track and Field team. She was part of the sectional championship gymnastics team and competed with them at state. Yu also qualified individually for sectionals during each year she participated in Track and Field in the triple jump. Yu is also a member of the Student Council, FFA, H-Club, the Math Team, the Environmental Club, the National Honor Society, and the Pit Orchestra at HUHS. She has also received the highest score designation on all three of her WSMA instrumental solos and went on to compete at the state level with them.

Yu has been fortunate enough to participate in many community activities through service.
Some of her favorites have been delivering Valentines to local nursing homes, helping at the Shamrock Shuffle and the Pink Pumpkin Run, and decorating downtown Hartford with the Volunteers for a Beautiful Hartford.

Yu plans to pursue a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Political Science at a Big Ten School. She would eventually like to work in Pharmaceutical research and potentially
Intellectual Property Law.
