Hartford’s Pillar of Faith Will Be Missed By Many

gordoncarolynOn Monday, October 17, Carole Gordon, wife of Pastor Mike Gordon of First Baptist Church (FBC) in Hartford, passed away unexpectedly. Gordon faithfully served alongside her husband at FBC since 1974, touching the lives of women through her gift of sharing the love of Christ through numerous venues. Her passion for the Gospel was evidenced by her life testimony. She spent her life reaching out to others through missions, both in the United States and abroad. Gordon had a deep love for youth and was particularly well-respected and dear to the staff and students at Maranatha Baptist University, having worked at the school for over 37 years.

Longtime friend and co-worker, Dave Lingle, of Watertown, said, “Carole Gordon was my administrative assistant at Maranatha Baptist University for 18 years. All told, she worked at Maranatha for about 40 years. I have known few people over the years who served as well, as much and as faithfully as Carole. A gifted wife, pastor’s wife, mother, grandma, administrative assistant and…friend. She was a mentor to many and a godly and gracious influence on all. She will be sorely missed by her husband, family, church family and all who were privileged to know her as a friend.”

Hartford has lost a strong pillar of salt and light, but Gordon’s steadfast faith and sincere love for all people will leave a permanent imprint on the fabric of her community and far beyond.

Services were held on Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown.
