Man, 22, arrested for possible 5th OWI in Fond du Lac Co. | By Lt. Eric S. Halbach

November 21, 2023 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – With two prior OWI convictions on his record, out on bail for two other OWI arrests, and if convicted of each arrest, Monday’s apprehension will be his fifth OWI. Fond du Lac County 2nd shift deputies, worked in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Patrol and FDL PD to get this dangerous drunk driver off the highway.

On November 20, 2023, at 8:11 P.M. a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle make an unsafe lane deviation exiting I41 northbound onto USH 151.

The vehicle drove through the red traffic lights at the I41 and USH 151 interchange and continued north on I41. The Deputy activated his lights and siren and attempted to stop the vehicle. The operator disregarded the Deputy’s lights and siren and continued north on I41.

The vehicle exited at Military Road and continued north until the 9th Street roundabout, and then headed back south on Military Road. The driver of the motor vehicle then turned off their headlights and was flashing their lights at oncoming vehicles.

The reckless driving continued southbound onto County Road D. The vehicle turned back northbound on County Road D at Miranda Way. The vehicle narrowly missed a State Patrol Trooper attempting to deploy stop sticks near Brown Road. The vehicle then turned around again on County D southbound where it finally came to a stop near Commerce Court.

The operator of the vehicle, a 22-year-old from Milwaukee, was taken into custody without incident. The length of the pursuit was 8 miles.

The operator is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on Operator a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated, Recklessly Endangering Safety and Bail Jumping.
