Rep. Bodden presented Paul Oosterhouse with First Responder of the Year Award

October 20, 2023 – Malone, WI – Representative Ty Bodden, on behalf of the Wisconsin State Assembly, hereby recognized Paul Oosterhouse of Malone as the First Responder of the Year for the 59th Assembly District in recognition of his selfless dedication and service to our community.

firstKNOW YOU BY THESE PRESENTS:
WHEREAS, Paul Oosterhouse began his career in corrections on October 17, 1994 after departing the United States Navy before retiring from the Department of Corrections on May 2, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Oosterhouse has been nominated by citizens of the 59th Assembly District for the honor of the First Responder of the Year for our Assembly District; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Oosterhouse’s first institution was at Oak Hill Correctional Institution south of Madison. After serving at Oak Hill Correctional Institution, Paul transferred to Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution in June of 1995. From there, Paul transferred to Fox Lake Correctional Institution, after which he took a promotion to be a sergeant at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution in October of 1995; and
WHEREAS, Following completion of his probation at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution, Sargent Oosterhouse transferred to Dodge Correctional Institution in late spring of 1996. There, Paul joined the Emergency Response Unit and became a CPR instructor for the next 11 years; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Oosterhouse then transferred to Taycheedah Correctional Institution in October of 2007. Paul joined their Emergency Response Unit, continued as a CPR instructor, and also volunteered as a QPR suicide prevention coordinator for the next twelve years; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Oosterhouse finally transferred to John C. Burke Correctional Center, where he served as a CPR/AED instructor and a field training officer; and
WHEREAS, first responders from across Wisconsin are being recognized in the State Capitol with a First Responder of the Year Award for their service and sacrifice; now, therefore,
Representative Ty Bodden, on behalf of the Wisconsin State Assembly, hereby recognize Paul Oosterhouse as the First Responder of the Year for the 59th Assembly District in recognition of his selfless dedication and service to our community.
