There was a fabulous display of tree-climbing skills at Regner Park over the weekend and now it’s been turned into a competition. Who knew!
Climbers come from all over the state came to participate in the event put on by the International Society of Arboriculture.
There are 5 scored events that follow ISA rules: Belayed Speed Climb, Work Climb, Foot Lock Speed Climb, Aerial Rescue, Throw Line.

According to the International Society of Arboriculture: Tree climbing competitions simulate working conditions of arborists in the field.
Male and female competitors perform five different events during preliminary rounds to qualify for the championship.
Each event tests a competitor’s ability to professionally and safely maneuver in a tree while performing work-related tree-care tasks in a timely manner.
