Speed Awareness Day is Wednesday, July 26, 2023 | By Lt. Brian McAndrews

West Bend, WI – Excessive speed continues to be a leading cause of crashes throughout the United States.  In coordination with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Wisconsin State Patrol Wednesday, July 26, 2023 will be recognized as “Speed Awareness Day.”

The West Bend Police Department along with participating state, county and other local agencies will be conducting a 24-hour, high visibility enforcement detail.  Throughout the day we will have additional officers assigned to traffic safety enforcement and education.

Together we can reduce crashes, prevent injuries and save lives through proactive enforcement and public awareness.

Traffic safety is recognized as an area of importance by our officers every day.  This one day specialized detail will focus on educating motorists on the rules of the road.  The objective of “Speed Awareness Day” is exactly that “awareness.”

West Bend Police and local law enforcement across Washington County want you aware of the rules of the road and to have traffic safety conversations with your family and friends.

If you have concern about speeding vehicles or aggressive driving in your neighborhood please contact the West Bend Police Department to request extra attention.
